| Here is a review of the Action Replay DS by Datel. This little unit allows you to cheat to your hearts content though just about any game on your Nintendo DS. Unlocking content, and even modifying the game is now merely a few button presses away. Who said cheaters never prosper? Is this product going to steal your heart, or will it leave you lying on the floor weeping in sorrow? Cheating a way of life From the moment we are born to the day we die, ways of figuring out how to cheat the system have always been lurking in the dark corners of our hearts Pretending we were never 'shot' playing Cops and Robbers, Copying off of our classmates during an exam, being creative with out Tax Returns, Sneaking around behind our spouses backs lets face it, everyone at some level gets a perverse joy from cheating in some way, shape or form. When the cheating hurts others all the goody two-shoes of the world tend to frown upon these actions. But what about when the cheating isn't harmful to anyone? Should we do it? Well if your answer to that question is 'Yes', then maybe the Action Replay DS is for you! |  | | The Action Replay DS by Datel allows you to violate the trust of almost any of your DS games. Unlimited Lives, Unlocked Levels, Big Heads, if you can think of some sort of cheat for a game, chances are the fine folks at Datel have figured out a way to exploit it. And with a constantly updating database, you can be sure that as you get new games, you will be able to violate them any way you like, just like that girl down the street we all heard those rumors about. | | | | Appearance is everything The Action Replay DS comes in a blister pack that is very pleasing to the eye. The nice, cherry red and white color scheme is a delight to look at, and draws attention to it. Shown through the front of the pack is the actual card itself. |  | | (Such an eye pleasing package.) | | | | Inside the package you will find the AR Card, a CD containing the PC software, the Instruction Manual, and a standard 4-pin Mini-USB connection cable. |  | | (Check out what's tucked away inside.) | | | | The actual Action Replay card is slightly longer then a standard DS game, and sticks out just enough to plug the cable into in order to connect it to your PC. |  | | (I need some hot DS Action) |  | | (Slide it in me baby...) | | | | Installation of the software was a breeze. Once you have installed the software, insert the AR into the DS, turn it on ASAP, press the 'PC' button on the DS and you are all GTG. OK? Once you are connected, fire up the PC software and you will see the following screen: |  | | (The Menu in all it's Majestic Glory) | | | | Breaking down the menu shows the following options 1) Quick Update Erases all codes currently on your AR and replaces them with Codejunkies Official codes.
2) Software Upgrade Checks to see if there is updated Firmware for the AR. As of this writing there was already one update, so definitely check this periodically.
3) Nintendo DS A current list of codes installed in your Action Replay DS
4) Subscriptions The online Database containing all codes currently available for the AR. You can also subscribe to any 3rd Party sites when available
5) My Codelist A list of codes stored locally on your PC | | | | How does it work? Just stick it in! Using the product is extremely straightforward and intuitive. Merely boot the DS up with the AR in the game slot. Once the menu loads up, it prompts you to replace the AR with the game you wish to play. On the bottom screen you will see two icons, one for changing settings and another to connect to the PC. Once you insert the game of choice, it will tell you the name of the game installed on the top screen, and will give you several fruity colored options along the bottom screen. |   | | GO obviously runs the game, however, before you do that, I'm sure you will want to enable a few codes first. That is where the Checkmark comes into play. I'm not quite sure why the icon to select your codes is symbolized by a checkmark, and it is a little confusing, but hey, greater minds then my own made this decision, so a checkmark it is. |  | | Clicking the checkmark shows the available cheats for the current game. From here, select the cheats you wish to use, and then hit the big fruity GO button and that's it! You are in Cheating Nirvana! |  | | General Overall, the Action Replay DS is a fine piece of equipment. Simple, pleasant interface, easy to use, tons of codes for the most popular games, and a decent price make this a very worthy purchase if you want to breathe new life into some old games, or just don't have the time or skills to acquire all 28,647 Stars/Bars/whatever in your favorite game to unlock that last item. The important thing to remember is to use something like this responsibly. It's a very powerful and innovative cheat device for your DS console, use it in moderation or else it could have adverse effects! Positives + Amazingly simple to use.
