| GBA's are fairly popular amongst certain age groups and communities, and accessories for the GBA seems to be getting more and more available, take this for instance, a TV tuner ? But when you think about it, those that travel around with their heads stuck in a game, also do miss out on a few other things, (like a social life :oD )so why not a TV tuner. Essentially this is another add on card in a way, you simply slide the unit into the GBA like any other cartridge and then you lock it in place with the clips on the underside. After thats done you need to insert a normal cartridge to let the screen boot as it cant do it on its own. When thats done you can insert the stand by screwing it into the base of the unit if you need it, inserting some batteries or the supplied power adaptor and your ready to go. Now in a few seconds your faced with what appears to be a bad weather forecast, its just the tuner needs tuning to your local transmitters so follow the on screen instructions to tune all the channels you need, around here we get the four, channel five is impossible. Its fairly simple to follow and rather logical, and in a minute or two you are rapidly tuning all the channels and storing them. From that point on your done. It really is that simple to set up. As a side note you can hook this unit up to a games console with the supplied cables, I dont know why you would want to, it has to be said, but you can, or even a video player. The cables are supplied for all of this of course. The general reception on the telescopic aerial was not to bad, there was of course a few blind spots but nothing a little fiddling around couldn't solve. On a mains aerial the signal was as you expected it to be, perfect, to the point of reading captions on the bottom of the screen. It is rather surprising, I expected something far less. I remember those old pocket TV's you used to get that had small screens and were barely viewable, this is a real leap upwards from those. The only real let down was the darkness of the screen itself on the GBA, an afterburner is an essential item I feel for a unit like this. Its not essential, but it does certainly make viewing a lot easier. Overall Im suitable impressed and rather surprised! |
